Blind Insights

Today on the beach,
I stopped to take the photo of a young couple
with seeing eye dogs.

They were struggling to find the setting
on her iPhone.

They were so grateful
on this fateful sunny afternoon.

I met them at the bottom of the steps.

They were up about 10
-- of the 80 steps.

So many ahead of them, steps, that is.
It was as if it didn't matter

whether they knew what was ahead, or not.

They were young, they were in love, they were blinded by it
-- the love, not the sun
that was high above them, over the bridge
in the backdrop of the photo
we took.
